I admit I was wrong about Target. I never thought there would be enough boycotters to impact their bottom line. I don't use Target, so I probably misread the type of consumers who shop there.
Target misread their customers just like Elon did. Who are the environmentally friendly, pro-electric car people? Liberals. He alienated his main sales base. Traded one Tesla for a Lucid and traded the other for a Rivian. I was perfectly happy with my Teslas before Elon dipped his toes into politics and went super far right. You think most MAGAs want electric cars let alone can afford them? Nope. All my MAGA relatives drive Ford F150s or Chevy Trail Bosses. Who was Target's main customers? People like me. Gay, liberal, rich, white woman with 4 kids. Browsing Target was one of my favorite things to do. I spent thousands there every year with my Red Card. Drop a kid at a sports practice and walk around Target with a Starbucks to kill 90 minutes was my routine a few times a week for years. I live in Leesburg, so my Target is a Super Target where half is a proper grocery store and the other half is the traditional Target store. I did grocery pick-up orders from Target 2-3 times a week. Now, the only time I go to Target is for the pharmacy. I have to use CVS with my insurance, which is inside of Target and the other CVS in Leesburg is terrible (kid's pain med script was stolen, was given incorrect meds twice, was shorted on meds numerous times before switching to CVS in Target). It's shocking to see Target slowly turn into Walmart (messy, dirty, dark (lights dimmed), and hot (not using ac)). Who was not Target's main customer base? People like my MAGA relatives in WV, TN, KY, and AL. First of all, only 2 or 3 even live close to a Target. The others would need to drive hours to them. Secondly, Target is more expensive than Walmart.
Millennial and Gen X black women are also a big chunk and that is the most reliably liberal voting demographic in America and they heavily participated in the boycott. Who did you think was buying all of that Tabitha Brown stuff?
