I used to be very natural and now I doll myself up: I get regular mani-pedis, get my brows and lip threaded every two weeks, and do like getting lashes (but don’t consistently). I wear push up bras bc I have DDs and a short waist - these accentuate my waist. I don’t bleach my hair or my teeth. I workout 3-4 times a week. I think a function of this is getting older - I’m 39 - and you have to do more to maintain a baseline of attractiveness (cue the 40-somethings who say they look stunning no matter what). This is true for both genders! I don’t understand what people want from women. And I guess that’s the point: you can never win. “Try” and you’re seen as superficial. Don’t try and you’re a genderless hag. I like looking good so I’ll continue to do these things.
I’m 50. I wasn’t going to talk about attractiveness as you get older :) I was going to say you should relish in all your natural collagen and not sweat aging right now. Enjoy all you have now.
I am a man and I agree 100%. While I don't put make up on I use lotion everyday..My mother made a homemade African Shea butter lotion that has done wonders to my skin. I also lift heavy weight very very heavy but safely or course 3 times a week. I am 50 and look better than most 50 years of men. I don't look 40 but I look good as a 50 years old. I also practice mindfulness daily and have sex as much as I can. So yes it takes work as you age. Couch potatoes are rundown by 40. And it's true for both men and women.
