You don’t take your own food to dinner at someone else’s house. You ask if you can bring anything like op did, and then you are at their mercy. And even if op had brought—oh, say potato salad—what the heck is she supposed to do with it 2 hours in with no grilling in sight? Pull up to it with a fork? Or do you show up to dinner parties with a sandwich and sit there and eat it?[/quote]
