Have you seen the monopoly BSC has on the state of MD? There are girls driving from La Plata down south and Bel Air up north to play for them. MDU and Pipeline both can't coexsist with that. Thats all I meant by "no fault of theirs", thats why I gave them flowers for the new approach ove the past 3 years or so to build up surrounding counties; forgot to mention their work with MDU South in calvert co. MDU is figuring it out right when Pipeline has begun a deep dark spiral to market invisibility.
Yes and no. Plenty of DC or lower MoCo kids happily travel to VA to play for one of those ecnl teams. You need to throw Arlington/VDA etc. into the mix.
VDA is nowhere near Arlington.
At 1 age group. Look at college placement and YNT opportunities
Geographically VDA is nowhere near Arlington. As a club, VDA is at a different level than Arlington.
Different level or different priorities? Arlington if they chose could be VDA, the population alone accessible to Arlington is night and day better than wherever VDA is locared in rural VA. The rub is that Arlington does not need to be VDA to be profitable and sought after. They simply need to maintain their ECNL badge and keep the full pay parents satisfied with their kid's development. This means turning away talented players who could displace one of these entiteld families. This means not prioritizing strong coaches for all teams. VDA on the otherhand could never be Arlington as it already needs 2-3 partner clubs to even exist. Those partner clubs barely hold a flame to Arlington's 2nd and 3rd teams. My child plays at neither club but has looked at both, and I always walk away impressed by Arlington, but then equally discouraged that they don't push their first teams like VDA. Coaching quality and the socio-economics make it nearly impossible for VDA to do what Arlington does, but what if Arlingotn did what VDA did with their first teams at least. Be cuthroat, no loyalty, always pick the most talented kids, provide scholarships so ALL kids in Arlington Co can play for an Arlington 1st team and are not ignored. Do these things and its a wrap Arlington 2011s are the norm for the whole club. Try harder Arlington!
Lol this a MDU thread and still the Arlington haters find a way to make it about them… as a md parent, we don’t care.
