That's already happening. I think people voted for legal cannabis bc people were using it anyway. It's no worse than alcohol. So why should we be punishing these people and not drinkers, who generally do far more damage to themselves and their communities? However, I don't think people were well informed about how damaging cannabis is to young brains. And I don't think it occurred to anyone that the entire city would smell like skunk at 9 AM every single day.

In retrospect, legalization should have been accompanied by extremely strict age restrictions - no one under 21 at least, though preferably 25. And smoking in public should have remained illegal, with maybe some tax or price incentives that favored gummies, which don't stink up the entire city. Plus stepped up enforcement for anyone smoking and driving - hefty fines and jail time. Obviously, this will never come to pass bc racism I guess. It's a shame this city can't be practical about things without race getting thrown into everything. But the prevalence of smoking weed among young black teenagers is ridiculous. And that is not a win for the city. [/quote]

The problem is that even when both products are used responsibly, in densely populated cities, marijuana IS worse than alcohol. Since marijuana is most frequently smoked, in apartment buildings and row houses it’s unavoidable for marijuana users to impact their neighbors.  Not the same if you have a couple of beers after work. [/quote]
