What is MUCH more interesting to me is how his current gamble in changing policy in ME will fare.  It's an interesting one - it's pragmatic.  We've tried to fight and hold a big stick which hasn't been effective as we'd want.  So now we play good cop to see what happens.  It is definitely harder for Iran to suck up strategically to Syria when they are no longer anti US.  It's actually tactically smart.  It's about ideology v practicality I suppose.  We've never really done it this way before have we?

Will be interesting to see how Iran and the bad actors respond to all this..[/quote]
