It's not just an economic issue. It's also cultural. Just need to look at the participation levels across different high schools. In high schools with large Hispanic populations, the boys teams have high participation but the girls teams have low participation. High schools with large Asian populations also have lower soccer participation. Some sports are more popular in certain communities. Not a lot of lacrosse being played in asia. And sports in general are more encouraged in some than others that might prefer to spend their resources on education rather than sports.[/quote]

yet some of the best players I've seen are latinas with family support. Definitely some clubs who embrace this.[/quote]
