That's wrongful termination and person X can sue the beejesus out of his employer. As well as sue person Y for tortious interference. Given you said he was 59, he likely has an age discrimination suit too.

I talked to the former colleague a few days ago, he is also a close friend, that seven different attorneys didn’t take his case because they didn’t think he could win.  Companies can get rid of you for many reasons.  It was a stupid thing for him to do at his age.[/quote]
