Apparently, some state & federal buildings can ban you from entering without a Real ID. I haven't seen a list of those that will nor have I heard of any incidents. Can't call me for jury duty if I can't get in the building.
I had to rush to get a Real ID 3 years ago when my parent was hospitalized at Ft Belvoir. Left from work with only a DL, obviously no passport or other documentation with me. I think I was issued a temporary pass under emergency circumstances but eventually had to get a Real ID via dmv (took me two trips - one back home to get my marriage license from 25+ years ago) and then I could get onto the base. I still haven’t renewed my passport. It expired.
