dp.. most two parent working families cook at home, do their own laundry, clean their own homes.  Don't be daft.

If the cost of childcare is more than what one parent brings in, then it make sense for that parent to sah.  But, if not, then it doesn't make any financial sense to give up that other income.   College is expensive; everything now is expensive.

Plus, it usually ends up with the woman staying home, and as a woman, I would not want to be dependent on a man financially in the long term.  I did sah for like 2 years total, but I knew I had to return to work to save for college, retirement, and because I didn't want to be financially dependent on anyone. I saw how that worked out for my sisters and mom. No, thank you.[/quote]
