OP here: I am indeed attracted more to early 40s men.[b] But they all have emotional or character features that push me away. This is very understandable. You've tried this with men and had not great experiences. But you haven't with women, so it's easy to idealize them and their character and emotions. So maybe you should try dating women? [/quote]

I haven't dated women but I have very good long term women friends. They certainly provided more support, positive emotions and quality time than any men I ever dated. I don't feel sexual towards any of my girlfriends but I wonder if I met a woman and she was both to me: an intimate partner AND the best friend I could rely on?
