Plus UVA went to applying at end of 1st year now (instead of second year). The requirements to apply are way less, more will apply and I won’t be surprised if the admit rate drops to 35%. First results from this change will be known this summer, so absolutely expect that rate to drop.[/quote]

UVA is very fair when it comes to McIntyre my guess is it might drop a little the acceptance rate but also there has been a shift because  a lot of top students have been doing Econ data science cs with some business courses and over the last few years recruitment by top quant firms has been even better than Wharton   The quant clubs at uva are students who could have got McIntyre but choose the other route. Our dc is currently at  uva and applied McIntyre he is not worried about getting in, because his advisor suggested that data science minor coupled with Econ had similar  outcomes to mcintire.  Regarding the quantitative students choosing careers yes it’s hot, but very stressful process you have to intern, present well pitch battles, network.  Most of those students as my ds says are very focused and determined so they really try hard to distinguish themselvs and very cliche.   Yes they get paid more but it’s with a lot of stress.
