You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. Here are the facts:

* 2023 saw the highest number of homicides in DC since 1997.
* The DC Police is understaffed by at least 500 officers.
* The DC crime lab remains unaccredited. 
* There were over 950 carjackings in 2023 - that's the equivalent of 2.6 carjackings per day! In 2024 there were still 496 carjackings and 70% of those were at gunpoint.

NP, Ward 3 has had a steep uptick in crime correlating to policy changes. But maybe the mayor will say it was a small price to reduce crime across the rest of the district. [/quote]
