I listened to The Daily today, and I thought they had a pretty good take. The knives are out for Mike Waltz and Trump doesn't have a close relationship with Walz. The knives may also be out for Hegseth, but Trump has a close relationship with him. Walz will likely go down for this screwup. And firing Walz also has a secondary effect of shutting down (or slowing down) discussion on the fact that Hegseth 100% shared classified on that chat, and none of the other officials called it out.

That said, doing dumb crap like bringing your TV producer wife to high level meetings is only going to be tolerated for so long by lawmakers. Sen. Budd is already calling Hegseth's leadership into question.[/quote]
