Someone needs to educate the county council on the fact that developers are not the little guy. They always win. They don’t need ridiculously oversized subsidies.

We have rentals. We have housing.

If they are trying to help the homeless, then that’s a very targeted approach for a select group of housing projects—it’s not a tax break writ large across the board.

Given the dramatic decline in the county’s tax base, I don’t think we really should prioritize affordable housing that will attract more low-income people. Focus on targeted projects and leave the bulk of development to market rate—and tax the fancypants developers just like everybody else. [/quote]
