13 seems early for this. My daughter goes to an all girls school not in DC. This is not even on her radar. She is popular and all that. It’s not a thing. What type of environment is this that this is normalized behavior? Seems young to me. Maybe I am naive.
It ABSOLUTELY is a thing. And if you say your kid doesn’t have social media, you are wrong about that too. I teach 7th grade and all the kids create accounts whether they are allowed or not. Many use separate screens like old phones, friends old phones, and they always use their chromebooks too. My own daughter went to an all girl school and i was once blind like you. Those girls are just as bad, if not worse because they are a bit more immature and trusting on boys they don’t see daily. I hate it all. I think phones should be removed from school completely. Sent mine to private for that reason. But as a teacher in public, woah it’s non stop all day. And I would say sexting and nudes have been happening in 6th grade now for about 7 years. And I have a friend who teaches in elementary and it started about 2 years ago there.
I work at a private school and have dc that attends a private and there is absolutely none of this going on. My 2 dc have monitored devices and no access to Chromebooks or outside devices. The kids might be inappropriate with language or say stupid things but nothing even remotely close to sexting. I can’t even imagine nudes or unsolicited dick pics. Plenty of friends with children in similar environments and never heard anything close to what you are saying. What type children are you working with ? I’m imagining this is somewhere with cracked out and uninvolved parents with heavily trafficked youth. This is not normal.
Not the PP but just because it isn’t happening during school hours doesn’t mean it’s happening. The fact you think send your kid to private school blocks this is laughable
