I posted above about my mom who is on Medicaid for her nursing home and hospice. She has been slowly deteriorating with MS for about 10 years with dementia caused by the MS. She stopped being able to feed herself about 4 years ago. Now she barely eats and has severe seizures. Why am I telling you this? Well despite her condition I must recertify her every year that she cannot get a job. Medicaid also goes out to inspect her situation to make sure she isn’t lying about not being able to work. Do you think someone who is here illegally would invite that level of scrutiny? Could they appropriately complete the almost 30 pages of paperwork that isn’t available in Spanish? I think there are a lot myths built up around freeloading illegal aliens on Medicaid because most people do not know what Medicaid involves. Medicaid is a f**king ridiculous burden to get. No way would someone here illegally, who isn’t fluent in English, be able or willing to navigate that system! I am a U.S. born woman with a graduate degree and a bureaucratic savant, I struggle to jump through their hoops and complete the paperwork because it isn’t created for my mom’s chronic and debilitating illness![/quote]
