Pretty obvious. Zuck doesn’t want to get sued or to have Facebook heavily restricted. He’s trying to save his company. Look what happened on and before 1/6. Trump actually posted several messages saying that he wants law and order, no violence, and for everyone to respect police officers. However, those messages were removed and Trump didn’t know. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hUU8t23OQ1s That unethical censorship really cost Trump in favorably ratings. Just look at DCUM and how people rail on and on about how he didn’t tell his supporters to calm down. When he actually did. I’m sure it’s infuriating to Trump to feel like social media companies were doing everything they could to get him to lose the election. I’m sure he’s thought about trying to strip power from the social media companies if he got back in power, and I’m sure Zuck realizes that too. So he’s trying to get ahead of it. Trump won’t come after Twitter now that Elon owns it but he might come after Facebook. The bad thing is that Zuck won’t even officially say that these changes are here to stay. Someone from fox specifically asked the representative from Facebook who was announcing the changes to the censorship whether this will be a permanent change or something just for the next four years while Trump is in office, and the guy refused to answer the question. Which to me means it’s just for the next 4 years. The guy did acknowledge that Biden’s people were constantly complaining and wanting things censored, even things that he says were actually true and accurate, and that he thought it was really unethical (and I believe he used the word ridiculous), but it seems really strange that he wouldn’t say that it will never happen again. Personally I hope Trump doesn’t fall for it. Social media companies shouldn’t be allowed to have the type of power they have. Period. Imagine the audacity to censor the former POTUS who is going for reelection. And that’s without even mentioning all the Russian collusion crap or censoring Hunter Biden’s laptop story as a hoax when it was actually all completely true. People are just over it and we see the social media companies as evil so he’s trying to improve the image. Also, countries like Australia are doing what they can to prevent kids younger than a certain age from being on social media and I’m sure that Facebook doesn’t want to deal with that here too.
