Ultimately op has to get to her own secure spot of : this is how I spend, and it is the best way for me. And she needs to forget how others spend their money. That being said, if there is a specific item the cousin is wearing she covets, then there is no shame in saving up and acquiring that item. I find it useful to think the following: I am feeling this emotion right now. What is it teaching me about what I am dissatisfied with and what I can improve? For instance coveting a friend's really nice apartment way too much made me realize I wanted to live in a different place. I couldn't afford that place, but I could afford some of its attributes (new, bright, lots of space) so I made it my business to look hard for that within my own means for myself instead of focusing on the jealousy. It's not a good space to dwell, bad for op and bad for the relationship.[/quote]
