Addison Hess apparently already in portal from Penn State. She went from all-state player of year, state champ, to wandering the desert. This is not how womens college soccer should be.
High School soccer and top College soccer programs are two totally different beasts!! You can be the club favorite and still never see a minute of time when you get that D1 spot
It sure is interesting though. She had a TON of accolades going into college, played under BP/CC, Gatorade player VA player of the year etc. https://gopsusports.com/sports/womens-soccer/roster/player/addison-hess I mean, this resume is about as good as it gets for a kid coming out of NoVA, so who failed this player?
Playing under CC/BP is not an accolade. They are club coaches. There are hundreds of top level club coaches. Gatorade play of the year is a HS sport award. Most elite players do not play HS so therefore not eligible. There are many other awards for club players that carry more weight. That's not the best resume by far. Do a little research... there are a lot of HS players that were "hero's" but flamed out on the D1 college pitch. In fact, with the exception of Ellie Wheeler ( KC Current) and Laurren Flynn (Utah Royals) most kids in this area (NOVA) are not stars in college. When the favoritism ends, so do a lot of the opportunities.
Parents are heavily involved in some of these recruiting scenario's. Legacy, money, influence etc. Union signing day on social media has girls signing with schools like UVA and UVA doesn't even list them as signed with the other players they are bringing in next year. I applaud these girls trying to play at the highest level, but it's really hard to break through and I hope these parents are giving them a heads up that minutes will be hard to earn. PSU is still in the NCAA tournament, so if this player is publicly announcing move to the portal...she was cut. Hopefully she lands in a good spot, she's obviously a good player.
Ummmm -- there is no way Union did a signing day with people who are not committed to the team they said they were. On yopur UVA example, UVA has not annouced their committs yet for next year.
Here are the UVA signing class announced by UVA on twitter: https://x.com/UVAWomenSoccer
I see both Union girls on there? Not sure what PP is talking about
Here's a clue, UVA announced two players from Union, but one wasn't included in the latest Union announcements. Union has shown three players going to UVA for soccer but UVA only announced two.
All that means is that the third player is a committ but awaiting admission either at the request of the player or grades are iffy and the recruit was no given heavy weight by the coach. Does not mean she is not on the team assuming she gets in.
No - they are a walk on. Or a commit for next year.
