My point /s is that people's lives can be impacted by people and places they are  ignorant of.   The case for geographic literacy rests on the knowledge being necessary to be an informed citizen (of your town, state, nation, world).  If you don't spend any time or focus on US geography, I think it's a consensus that your education is lacking.  Yes, you can look it up, but it's not that heavy a lift to know all the US states so you can understand presidential election politics, our legislature, etc.[/quote]
