I'm a teacher. Do you honestly think a class in which 75% or more of the students are learning English as a second language doesn't impact the instructional pace? That's not a racist comment. It's a big challenge for the teachers and students. [/quote]

I’m still appalled that teachers are supposed to deal with this.  I subbed a few times in a school like this and was completely overwhelmed.  No one was learning anything at all.  It is so incredibly unfair to both teachers and students.[/quote]

But you probably won’t like the solution. Pay teachers higher salaries, which would raise your property taxes.  Get rid of all the admin and special programs which would reduce individual attention. If you have huge classes, poorly paid teachers, too much admin, this is what you’re going to get.
