excellent point - most other individual sports require crazy obsessed parents getting private lessons/coaching etc - cross country is wonderful as doesn’t need any of that - most normalized sport ever [/quote]

most kids do cross country because they aren’t good enough to make team sports in hs - this is basically every kid i’ve ever known to do cross[/quote]

Might depends on where you live. In our area the HS team is mostly made up on full-time runners and they are one of the top in the state. The middle schools have very strong cross country teams that allow kids to do their own sport plus xc. That helps to expose kids early on and then decide what to do by high school. [/quote]
