I wouldn't assume they all knew about each other. Some yes but some no. It doesn't take away from their stupidity -- a major reason not to have kids with a man outside marriage is that getting married is a legal hurdle that can make it harder (not impossible but harder) for a man to conceal the fact that he has other family obligations. By choosing to have kids with a man without that attachment you risk your kids' well being.

I don't know what the solution is here. A lot of the proposed solutions seem like stuff that could be abused or used against people who are NOT doing this which makes me nervous.

I do think this is a fairly rare problem. Perhaps I'm wrong. It does make me angry on behalf of society that has to care for these kids and also on behalf of the kids who got pulled into the world by idiots.[/quote]
