Courmayeur town is lower than the slopes (there is a run down when the conditions are right) so you need to take a gondola to the starting point. At Le Massif, they also have a restaurant and place that guests can keep their skis/boots at the top of the gondola so you aren’t walking through town in ski boots. If you don’t stay at Le Massif, look for a hotel in the Dolonne part of town because that should be near the bubble lift which is more efficient than the gondola. It is a gorgeous place to ski - you’ll have a great time! It is pretty small though, so if you’re going for a longer period you might want to combine with somewhere else. It’s very doable to drive to Chamonix or to another nearby Italian resort (like La Thuile or Pila) for the day - and by drive, I mean get a taxi! [/quote]
