How big of a house?

Burke VA is wonderful for smaller homes.  The Burke VRE is great.

Commuting is easier. There are walking paths too.

As for getting into college: don’t ask for financial aid. If your kids get waitlisted, if you don’t have financial aid clicked it will be easier.

That’s basically it. Literally, we saw some kids not get into dream schools until waitlisting moved. And the kids that had super wealthy parents or just didn’t  qualify for aid at 200k got in. Anyone who qualified for aid, did not. YMMV.

Thanks for this! It’s just me and 2 boys. So I’m not looking for a huge house. A 3 bed is enough for us. Will check out Burke VA and will have to put some thought to the financial aid thing! I feel like we would be needing it. [/quote]

if you are a single mom paying alimony and have nannies as you describe and can afford an 800k house, man will colonize Mars before you get a single penny of financial aid. [/quote]
