my DC who was admitted this past cycle in engineering said SAT/GPA is most important. around 1500 SAT and near 4.0 unweighted GPA should get you in.
Why would anyone go to uva for engineering? Do they even have an accredited engineering program?
Because it's vastly superior to the other somewhat meager in state options. Let's face it. E-school has always been far more selective than the college and the college is more selective than other engineering programs. in the end it just comes down to a better cohort.
You people are such snobs, it's gross. LOTS and lots of kids go to these "meager" schools with lesser "cohorts" and do not just fine, but very well. If you're kid is not adaptable enough to excel on his or her own without being propped up by a school name and fellow students, perhaps they're not as superior as you think. My DH is an engineer, and now a hiring manager, and they recruit from everywhere. Not just "meager" schools and he gives not bonuses for going to ivy or other "superior" schools. Don't fool yourself.
