[/quote] Gymnastics includes some pretty easy-to-measure feats of strength and agility that I think earn it a place separate from these other judges sports. There's some dumb stuff but like vault and high bar are extremely straight forward and it's easy to understand how they are scored and why one person outperformed another. There are some weird idiosynchrasies but the tumbling and a lot of the skills are virtuosic and easy to evaluate. Plus after track and field it's one of the sports with the clearest ties to the original Greek Olympics.
