Most sports leagues?  like the nfl, mlb, etc?  they do that because there aren't comparable teams in other leagues.

It doesn't apply to local youth soccer, or even top level soccer.  There are plenty of same level opponents in other leagues and it's good to have variety in opponent for sports reasons as well as just to increase the level of interest, i.e. play teams you don't usually see.  [/quote]

What do you think you're responding to?  I explicitly suggested exactly what you're saying . . ."same level opponents in other leagues" and "local youth soccer."  I was responding to the suggestion that the leagues schedule scrimmages amongst their own teams.  Who said anything about New Jersey? [/quote]
