It seems like Republicans will sweep to victory after seeing Biden’s frail state. But even if Dems win, the Supreme Court has done so much this year to stymie any liberal policy. Gun control ain’t happening. The environment is fked and now will be more so with the loss of Chevron. Organized religion is fully breaking down the walls between the state and itself. What the fk? What’s to be happy about?
Admittedly, not much. I hope/believe we are at the low point of what has been a very long, slow burn reaction to civil rights gains by women, people of color, LGBTQ folks, etc., coupled with the demographic change of the US, and a turn towards ruthless capitalism. I'm not sure the current Democrats in charge have what it takes but I am hopeful that the next generation does. The religious kooks are already outnumbered and that's only going to continue as they double down on dumb ideas. Most of this country is centrist. I do think Democrats have to buckle down on their local, county, state level game and be reasonable but unapologetic. Think Obama. Stop trying to win the culture war. It's a manufactured crisis machine and someone needs to call it out as such.
