Cardinal, Cavalier, Metro, Super Nova and United are all dead. Pride still has the best teams and is the best at developing players. They also have the most kids selected by Capital each year for HS and have multiple teams ranked nationally. Stars is next after Pride but they are owned by private equity and have their own problems. They also bought MCE last year and that has not gone well.
Pride is not the best at developing players any more. For younger teams, BLC is doing a much better job. NOVA girls lax clubs are on the decline. Just look at BLC 29 and younger. When that age group gets to MS, CLC will mostly be BLC girls.
BLC is not in NoVa. They are asking about VA teams.
They may be OK with traveling across the bridge to Bethesda. Better to join now instead of getting beat later.
Is BLC really worth sitting in horrendous traffic? 495 around the bridge is the worst these days.
Only worth it if your daughter is a 2029-2033 and you want to win games. All while being surrounding by very talented girls and coaches.
The problem with any MoCo team is that they are just too close in proximity to the top MD teams. Unless a team is super tight (eg, BLC 2027), there is a risk the top players will leave for MD teams and doom the remainder to failure. This is much less likely to happen on a Nova team because the MD club practice locations are just too far for most parents. Look at the 2028s. Pride is #9 and there is not a highly ranked MoCo team to be found because all the best players left for Hero’s etc.
Backstory: the post above is from an ex-BLC dad of a 2028er who left years ago for Hero’s and now has an axe to grind. He left bec 2028 BLC was an off year; it was the right choice for them. What he won’t write: had BLC 2028 been a strong year, like those prior / since, his DD likely would have stayed. The sad part: he has been all over the 2028 pages trashing BLC and projecting the misimpression MoCo lax is dead and Hero’s is now the only real option for talented MoCo players. The fun part: he thinks his posts are attracting strong lower MoCo players to Hero’s but that isn’t happening, as BLC 29 is ranked #19 and BLC 30 is ranked #9. He also doesn’t like BLC’s relationship with Capital, whose recruiting track record is arguably better than Hero’s. Recognize his posts and the agenda behind them.
This is hilarious. First, because I think know who you’re talking about. But second, because you think someone is trying to recruit for Hero’s against BLC in Moco. I think that Hero’s pretty much recruits themselves and BLC seem like they are doing fine themselves. 2028 is an outlier year across the board for lacrosse. No one really knows why. Probably best to just let it go.
What does it mean that "2028 is an outlier year across the board for lacrosse. No one really knows why."?
I know this one - there is a massive amount of dissatisfaction on the part of 2028 parents (particularly because on the boys side). We’ve had big team implosions (madlax). The dissolution of multiple 28 teams (VLC, True Cheasepeak). Teams that poached large numbers of players (dce). Secret tryouts and general skullduggery (DCE). Huge rosters (DCE,NL,ML). Brutal reclassing (Crabs). All the teams are engaged in a distasteful recruitment practices. I’ve been around club lax for 15 years and I’ve never seen anything like this in any other class.
Some of this behavior is bleeding into the girls clubs.
