For the true prestige-hunters who don't get into any Ivies (the "rejects"), I assume that they simply look at USNWR's rankings and pick the next most prestigious school that admitted them. I think most of this type are highly likely to pick a university over a SLAC simply because the former has more mainstream recognition. But they might pick a WASP SLAC over a T20-T30.

Otherwise, it'd depend on the Ivy they prioritized. For example . . . .

Dartmouth fans would probably look at Williams (which is as difficult to get into as Dartmouth), Colgate, Middlebury, and Hamilton, all of which offer strong academics in a outdoorsy, isolated setting. Brown fans would probably consider Wesleyan, which offers an open curriculum and similar artsy/intellectual culture. And Columbia fans are likely to consider Barnard (if female identifying) or other semi-urban, rigorous SLACs like Swarthmore.[/quote]
