Here is another treadmill story. My friend was selling her house to downsize. For the previous year, she tried to sell her treadmill but did not go on Facebook Marketplace. This spring, we were moving; in the meantime, we purchased an inexpensive treadmill. My friend kept saying don't buy it, I will sell you mine. But, we thought, what if it breaks down? How awkward is our friendship? In the end, I wanted another treadmill, and we came to look at it. Yes, we have two now. She told me that she bought it for over 3.5K but barely used it. I asked her to give me the price. She said that for a year, she tried to sell it for 500 but nothing. So, is 350 OK? I brought the money with us and we paid right away. She and her DH, who then had a 150 truck, disassembled it, loaded it, brought it to my house, and she and my DH (Her dh has bum knees) assembled it for me. And I can honestly tell that she is cheap and as penny-saving as it gets—English, to top it off! (English people and good friends of English people will know what I am talking about.) She would rant about how her DH spent more on gas driving a 10-dollar lamp to buyers who could not come collect it. Your friend is not a nice person. I was an expat several times, and I know that prices for larger pieces can sell close to the original price. I sold a whole playground in Africa for just about what I bought it for. But, I had a lot of expat mom friends.
