Has anyone heard the latest updates on JC’s investigation for forging documents?
This is true. He’s being sued by a family because he forged the registration documents. Also, most of the U9 team is leaving BSC because of this.
What? Details?
Cease and Desist letter sent to the Board early this week.
Can you summarize the allegations in the letter?
From what I know, the player code of conduct was purposefully and fraudulently changed and used as a way to control the boys from playing a summer tournament. the change reflected an "agreement" that indicates the club keeping players from playing in the summer, when the original agreement signed by parents ends on May 31. this change was caught by a metadata analysis. The change was deliberate. So this opened the door to more questions about whether this type of behavior was a one-off issue. Turns out it wasn't and after speaking with many former and current parents, countless stories surfaced of abuse and punitive behavior across the board on the boys and girls side. The stories from the girls side, specifically, are appalling. The letter requests the board to investigate these cases and provide parents the protection to speak without fear. For too long, this club has used fear tactics to keep people from speaking up. and for those that have, the response is "thanks for your feedback" or punishments affecting their kids position on teams. parents have also talked about retaliation they faced on siblings for players leaving or trying out. more and more stories will come out from this. and just so everyone is aware - this is not every club or every coach. the great coaches at bethesda who care about the kids and do the right thing are not empowered by JC to lead the organization. there are great people in this club which is why the rottenness needs to end. abusive behavior should never be tolerated and corrupt favoritism needs to end.
If you don’t like the club, why don’t you just leave? What is the point of trashing it here? It is a fact that many BSC players (at least on the boys side) come from VA because they see opportunity at the club. If MoCo families don’t like the BSC option, why don’t they do likewise and move to one of the many NOVA clubs? I know it’s a commute, but no worse than the ones the NOVA families are making to MoVo. Easier to complain here than actually take control of your lives?
DP, but this poster doesn’t seem to be trashing the club. It’s a thoughtful post. If you’re at all familiar with BSC, you’ll know that it’s a club with many good features and many serious leadership failures. It could be a great club with better people in charge. Why move to a different club if the options are to stick with a club that (on the boys’ side at least—can’t speak for any girl parents) will get you above average coaches and opportunities? But it could be a great club, with better people in charge. I’ve heard decent and complaining things about Arlington, and the rest of NoVa soccer seems a mess—correct me if I’m wrong. And the weird VA spring soccer situation makes things complicated for MD HS players. I’m all for anyone trying to push BSC to be better. What reason do you or any other parent have for opposing that goal?
Why do you or any parent think your role is to make a club “better?” Doth not thou’s presumptuousness know no bounds? If you like what the club offers you, join it. If you don’t, go somewhere else. Only in DC . . .
Thanks for finally joining the party, MN. We missed you.
