It's a trope people around here like to say because people get riled up about it. Don't, your son will get a very good education and have very good outcomes. The pathological hair-splitting about rankings and who what is strong or weak in this or that is ridiculous. [b]At the end of the day, a hard working student will have access to great professors and resources at any top 75 school and especially at a top 25.[/b][/quote]

I don't think that is the right way of thinking about it.  There was an eye opening account of poor undergraduate pre-med experience by a former TA at UCLA.  UCLA is top 20.  [/quote]
