We don't go on long car rides. We fly, and bring a bunch of snacks onto the plane. Dh and I are both foodies, so we're more likely to make a milkshake or fries at home.  I don't understand your point about "how people ... move ..."  Why would moving houses necessitate going to McDonalds? [/quote]

We’ve moved to different states and countries 10 times. Sometimes, like in the middle of a drive from Fairfax to Arizona during such a move, the only thing on the road or open is a McDonalds or something equally bad but convenient.  You can’t leave pets in the car when it’s hot out, don’t wake to wake a sleeping toddler, and we don’t like to add an hour or more to stop for meals when we’re driving 12 a day anyway.

I also work a weekend job where I’m working hard for 10 -12 hours in a row with no time to eat. You know how many options there are at 11pm?
