Penn State is more well known than UVA. My west coast friends dont really care too much about UVA - for them - its just a state school
I am a VT alum, but this is just not true. Come on.
I don’t think people in CA are thinking about UVA. I went to school in Boston and was not familiar with UVA until I moved here. DH went to Yale and there was one girl from UVA who was at Yale for grad school. I think she was the first person I met from UVA. I thought nothing of UVA meaning she should have said she went to Iowa or Kentucky and I would also have thought nothing of it. We live in NOVA and realize it is a state gem and well loved. I also know you need a 4.5 gpa to get in. That doesn’t mean people in CA or MA feel the same.
Sure some people may not know UVa that much. But PP claimed PSU is more well known than UVa. To me that’s a border line trolling.
PSU may well be better known than UVA due to size and football. "More well known" isn't the issue. It is being more highly regarded by those in positions of influence. There, I believe UVA has the edge. I live in Calfornia and UVA is not top of mind there the way it is in DCUM. But that isn't surprising due to distance.
