When you're anonymously criticizing the skill levels of the players selected to be at the DC United Academy, please do the region a favor by saying who your son plays for so that DCU scouts can go watch him. With all the scouting they are doing, it's hard to fathom how they selectively keep missing the exceptional, once in a lifetime generational talents of DCUM parents kids. Which top clubs with top talents at U12 and U13 are so elusive in the small DMV pool that DCU can't find them and aren't told about them?
A bit defensive r we? I mean maybe it was just a bad day for the kids. It was also windy so that might have contributed to the ball going all over the place. I don’t think anyone should think that DCU finds and develops all the talented kids in the DMV area. It’s one club for a huge metro area. Other comparable cities in Europe have more than one youth academy and can sustain those academies with talented players. There are other pathways outside of the DCU path.
Name me a professional academy in the world that can accommodate ALL the talented kids in their region? Even the cities with two professional academies can't accommodate ALL the talented kids in their area. So you're stating the obvious. Academies all over take a calculated risk approach to select what they consider the most talented kids with the best future potential and the best fit for their culture. The number of kids obviously has limits. Most of us unfortunately can't be objective when it comes to Junior and spin all kinds of narratives and conspiracy theories in our heads to deal with not getting selected.
I don’t see anyone spinning all kinds of narratives or conspiracy theories. I think you’re just extremely defensive whenever anyone criticizes DCU academy even though those criticisms are very legitimate. And that clip above of the U14s (or whoever they have playing up) is pretty cringe. Compared to other U.S. academies in similar metro areas and what they’ve done to recruit and cultivate relationships with local clubs to support recruitment efforts, DCU’s efforts have been dismal. That is a fact. Are you going to defend that as well? If your DCU kid was recruited by DCU, they will do well in spite of being at DCU so not sure why you need to be so worked up about it.
PhilaU here, we saw Delco match was surprised DCU lost by that much, head office picked wrong crop of players to develop, specially defensive line, too slow to catch up with delco ball control and speed.
