Are they happy? Where did they apply and get in/not get in? Merit anywhere?
In at UVA, UCSD, UCSB - offered significant merit at two 'Likely' schools.
How on earth did a kid with that SAT get into UVA? I have 2 kids over 1500 with exceptional stats, good enough to be accepted to top 10 universities, who were rejected from UVA. We know of several kids from our high school who this happened to. I am sorry, but a kid with those stats should not have been accepted at UVA over a kid with 1500 or above.
Perhaps you should take this up with the Admissions Officer. And get over it.
People like the PP just don't understand how the process works. The schools do not accept students based on some sliding scale, starting with the highest scores and going down from there. The scores are one part of a whole picture. The reason they are going back to test required is to see more students with a wide range of qualifications--to be able to admit more students with 1400 and under. A 1300 SAT shows clearly that students can do the work, at any university. I cannot believe how dense parents of kids with 1500s, but little else, are about the admissions process. My 28 ACT DD has a 3.92 GPA in her junior year at Georgetown. As you know, they never went TO. They know how to look at students holistically. People like the PP should be ashamed of themselves for being so judgemental of students who score below 1400.
