ND doesn't publish 50% average. they do publish 25% and 75% SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 710 760 SAT Math 740 790 average likely over BC's
Not according to US News, which claims to have the data of the AVERAGE SAT.
Also from US News: Notre Dame #20 Boston College #39
As the relevance of the SAT increases, which US News disregards, more people are going to be paying attention to that than some equity ranking from US News. The importance of the SAT is now known, and it is a great metric to measure schools. At least on this point, BC>Notre Dame.
And when USNWR starts using the SAT/ACT scores, it will push BC further down unfortunately. ND has always been and will continue to be higher in the scoring arena. From the CDS 25%-75%: ND SAT 1450-1550 ND ACT 33-35 BC SAT 1430-1510 BC ACT 33-34 ND has been in top 20 for decades. BC has never even come close. BC will always be what it's letters stand for -- Backup College.
Let's look at what these schools' test scores look like just before test optional went into effect. This would be a more accurate way to evaluate the student body because all students were required to submit. From the CDS 2019-20 (no test optional) ND SAT 1410-1550 BC SAT 1370-1490 ND ACT 32-35 BC ACT 31-34 From the CDS 2022-23 (test optional) ND SAT 1450-1550 BC SAT 1430-1510 ND ACT 33-35 BC ACT 33-34 Looks to me like BC relies more on test optional to boost test scores than ND does.
In the last few years BC's attractiveness has really shot up. The pre-covid SAT's were from a long time ago. BC has Boston, Notre Dame is in South Bend. With TikTok, Instagram, people are drawn to BC, so sometimes things change and a school gets better. From 30 years ago BC has come a long way to where it is likely to surpass Notre Dame. It has too much going for it.
