IN regard to her music, I believe she writes both lyrics and music and has since she started. That IS impressive, regardless of if you like her music or not. If you really listen to her lyrics, and the music notes, the songs are exceptional. I have only really played attention to this because my young daughter 1.) adores Taylor Swift and, 2.) plays guitar and has learned several of Taylor's songs/has several of her song books with the notes and lyrics etc... Her work is (thus far) essentially wholesome and age appropriate for a 23 year old. Frankly, I do think the lyrics to her song, Dear John are particularly well written and insightful. That song also absolutely cracks me up but my 9 year old daughter does not really like that song and does not understand it at all (thank God). As for Taylor Swift's personal life and dating life, it is certainly not very interesting but does seem fairly typical for her age - espcially since she never went to college and did not get to experince that "dating" scene. If you compare her "relationships" (which only seem to last a few months) with ones you had in college (and yes, the word relationship here is used very loosely but she probably sees most of these guys only in between touring and recording), they are probably fairly similar. As for the age difference between her an the Kennedy kid, I dated a 5th year senior when I was a freshman (me 18, him 23) and noone thought it was outside the norm at all although he did have wayyyyy more experience than I did. Besides, if the Kennedy kid did go to Deerfield (or any other East coast co-ed boarding school) I would bet a great dela of money that he has a ton more experince then she does. Boarding school is more than equal to college in regards to opposite sex relationships and partying. Besides, they are just kids, so why does it even matter really? Very few people get married that young any more, at least not on the coasts, and defintely not from a family like the Kennedys. All that said, I personally do not think she is very pretty or very interesting (her lack of life experience comes into play there) and she does come across as very clingy/needy/immature in relationships but, so do most 23 year olds. Lastly, IMO, that bathingsuit is hideous but, at least, nice and modest. Likewise her body and outfit in the kissing photo look just really odd and awkward. And, bingo, I guess that best describes her looks - AWKWARD - to me anyway.
I read a long New Yorker profile of her, and that first album of songs (some of which I really liked) was co-written by a professional songwriter that Taylor's mom hired to polish up her songs and increase her chances of getting a record contract. Apparently large chunks of the big hits, like the chorus of that one about "she's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers," were written by this other songwriter. I was kinda disillusioned by that -- i was not a big fan but I was impressed by some of the songs, I thought they were sort of sophisticated, musically and lyrically, for a teenager. I guess I was right. :)
