99% of early admits were in top 10% of class.
Most private schools do not rank and many public schools also do not rank. So thr 90% number is for those students whose schools does calculate a rank (which could be less than 50% of schools).
But could be more…
48% submitted rank. It's on the CDS and also on this page a few posts up.
Don’t buy it. Too high. Think it is a mistake and the CDS isn’t filled out completely anyhow. It is also a year behind other schools, which have long since released 2022-2023. For example, WashU is 27% in 2021-2022, and Johns Hopkins 2022-2023 is 25%. No way Chicago is 1/2 that only…
Many schools do not fill out every box on the CDS. For example, waitlist numbers, off the top of my head. Even if the CDS is “a year behind” u are saying u know for a fact that it’s incorrect??—that they r lying on the document or made an error that they r deliberately not correcting? That’s a bold statement and that’s fine if you r privy to inside information of their errors or concealment.
Name another selective school that fails to release ED and waitlist numbers. Maybe Colby. Otherwise, you can’t. Chicago is sketch on this; no need to be an apologist.
Many schools do not release waitlist numbers. Columbia University, as an example, does not.
You’re joking, right? Columbia, which had also never released a CDS before last year and now only does so for their general studies and engineering schools? Try harder.
No need to. PP asked for an example and one was provided. Other schools, like Brown, do not provide average GPA or % of class submitting rank. It happens. Not every data point is provided by every school. Posters on here can vilify a school and turn conjecture into fact. Knock yourselves out. You can access Chicago’s CDS and this thread also provides information on this year’s admissions. Not good enough? Contact admissions yourself and then get back to your cronies at DCUM. Inquiring minds want to know…
Brown provides ED numbers. That is what this thread is about. Brown does not provide class rank numbers. Chicago does, and that 48% is almost certainly wrong. That was the point: even the data Chicago its providing in its first ever CDS is wrong. Go head, find a private, selective school where 40% or more are reporting class rank. Johns Hopkins and Washington University are in the 20s. When Chicago (very belatedly) in a few months publishes its 2022-2023 CDS (which will still be a full year after all other schools), take a look at that class rank figure. Then get back to me.
