First time at Mass in many years. Struck by how casual families dress. Growing up, all the men were in sport coats and gals in dresses. Mass was an occasion. And then we’d get breakfast afterwards dressed in our ‘Sunday best’. Is this casual dresscode now the norm at every church? I honestly don’t like it. It blunts the optics of church, to me.
I recommend taking a look at parishes that offer ample opportunity for Adoration. You might find a greater reverence, as a result, for The Eucharist, which might result in more formal dress. Additionally, when The Traditional Latin Mass was more prominent, the faithful dressed modestly and formally. Any parish that is still using the TLM might also be a place to check out.
