OP with an update. Just spoke to a sergeant about it. It wasn’t exactly “porn” as I was told that night. It was the equivalent of what you’d see above the waist in a Playboy magazine. They aren’t pursuing it further because the other family can’t think of any enemies, nor can we. They don’t think it was a child who sent it based on the writing. He didn’t have an answer as to why they chose to come to our house at 9pm on this matter and apologized for that. I’m left even more confused lol I hope that’s the and of it and this girl doesn’t receive any more envelopes. I still don’t understand why anyone would return address the envelope at all unless the whole point of this was to get my DD into trouble, but we can’t imagine who. So weird.
Because of this outcome. Look at it this way. Adult sends inappropriate material to a minor but addresses it like another minor sent it. It gets looked into but nothing comes of it. Other family says just drop it. Creepy adult got away with sending the material
OP here. Right! But my thing is, how did they know my DD, and how do they also know this girl? Who could it have been? We have to be connected somehow.
Unfortunately, our kids' names are out there. For some reason my 9 year-old gets mail from Total Wine and Liquor. Why? I have absolutely no idea. Just somehow my kid's name got onto a list that got sold and sold again. OP's story doesn't feel far-fetched to me, for all of those calling troll. The police didn't know that the person in the return address was an elementary schooler until they showed up, and it showed good judgement frankly to take the parent's word for it. I'm guessing this was just a dumb cruel prank from an older child, or that OP's child's name just got pulled at absolute random. Actually, OP, maybe consider checking one of those Dark Web trackers for your child's name?
Thanks. I sort of just ignored them and moved on. I actually don’t know what the dark web tracker is, and I’m sort of scared to find out!
