Does anyone do the Cryptic Crossword in the Sunday paper? I want to learn how to do these. Letter boxed disappointed me. The first time I solved it in two words, I thought I'd get confetti or something, but it's just basically the same message as if you solved it in four.
I LOVE cryptic crosswords. The best website I've found for them is Lovatts Puzzles: https://lovattspuzzles.com/online-puzzles-competitions/daily-cryptic-crossword/ It's a British site, so be careful because sometimes the spelling will trip you up (humour versus humor, for example). You'll find that the functionality is a bit annoying, especially if you're used to the NYT crosswords where you can skip previously entered letters/answered clues, but this is still the best one I've found online. I've done some others that had better functionality but they were impossible to solve. These at least I generally can do. I also have a paperback book of them but they're also ridiculously hard. I would do some reading on the basic kinds of cryptic clues because that will make it so much easier to do them. There are only so many types, and understanding how they work is key. Have fun! They're my new favorite thing.
