I find all the racial/ethnic comparisons between these two schools somewhat humorous. Chantilly is 38% Asian, Oakton is 31% Asian. Chantilly is 5% Black, Oakton is 6% Black. I assure you, you won't notice these subtle differences in an enormous school like either one of these. This is people convincing themselves that one school is "more diverse and welcoming" than the other based on wishful thinking. Pretty sure most students' experiences at either one of these top-ranked high schools in one of the most educated and wealthy areas of the richest country in the world will be just fine.
Oakton is about 45% white, and Chantilly is about 35% white. There is a difference, especially in the AP/Honors classes.
So what’s the difference? Chantilly is about 40% Asian and Oakton is about 31% Asian. So Oakton is about 76% White/Asian - the two cohorts historically most likely to enroll in advanced courses - and Chantilly is about 75% White/Asian.
