It doesn’t need to be a full day. It could be a half day and give kids a last chance to make up work. It they’d already announced it, teachers could have adjusted (already had to crunch end of quarter assignments.)

At some point, enough is enough and there needs to be a cut off for work.  Kids need to get it in on time or ask for an extension and not wait weeks to turn it in.  This is part of the problem of why kids are struggling.[/quote]
I’m not talking general missing work from weeks ago. I’m talking specifically about the three days of instruction we just lost and only have 5 days left in the quarter to squeeze in 8 days that were planned. HS kids in particular are in the middle of projects, have been taking quizzes and have unit tests/essays etc due this week. It’s making it hard for kids who have legitimate extended time or who were sick two weeks ago to make up all the things.[/quote]
