The parents lost everyone's sympathy. This is reckless. Many assumed parent was pumping gas, that is my worst nightmare.

Definitely reasonable! We make it a point not to get gas with our kid in the car. The only exception is Costco (we usually all go). It’s hard to comment on this story without feeling like I’m minimizing the car theft/carjacking problem that we have in this city…but what this parent did was beyond the pale. Completely unacceptable even somewhere much safer than DC. [/quote]
