Buy a new straw and lid. Honestly, I’d be happy she is ok with using someone’s old water bottle. There was no lost and found to turn it into and it is way more likely that it would have ended up in a landfill. At least it’s being used. At our elem school, the amount of North Face and Patagonia fleeces and jackets in the lost and found are staggering. And despite the office constantly asking parents to look at the lost and found, very few people do. All that stuff (as well as Hydroflasks) just get donated or worse, thrown away.
Yes. Exactly this. Office admins find so many coats and water bottles that they dump them. Especially if there are any liquids in them. It’s gone. I think there is a policy for moco school district to toss out lunchboxes and water bottles with any liquid and food the moment they are turned into the office. They don’t want it leaking in the lost and found bin. Such a shame. In this case I support OPs daughter. She wanted the bottle (bitten straw or not is clearly an issue for some but not others.) and it would have likely made the trash
