-Syllabus clearly spelled out all assignments, tests, due dates and grading weight for each.
-Participation was required and tracked/ reported continuously - posted in LMS
-extra credit options were made available to everyone from beginning of semester
-class notes were provided to everyone
-all tests were untimed/ open book
-all papers required outline/ draft/ final paper to be turned in
-if papers weren’t on track for passing/ meeting with me required to check in

For any student failing at mid-semester I sent warning note with link to syllabus.

I only once had to fail football player. His coach appealed, but when I shared syllabus, course structure, attendance pattern and correspondence he dropped it.

I was basically blackballed by football team after that, but most of the soccer and baseball team succeeded in my classes.[/quote]
